Easton Adventures!!

Hello All,
I’m not sure what everyone knows so I will try to recap...
We went with Easton to the operating prep area at around 8am and waited for a few minutes and met with the anesthesiologist and also with Dr. Stotts. They are incredible people and we had total confidence in them but it was still one of the hardest things I have ever had to do when we handed him over and watched them walk away. We were given a pager and told they would let us know when the operation had started and that it should take about 2 hrs. They paged us at 9:20 to let us know they were underway. We walked around the hospital and waited… At 10:50 we received another page to head back to the room. It seemed a little early so I would be lying to say I wasn’t a little worried. A few minutes later Dr. Stotts showed up and said that everything went really well. He mentioned that once he had performed the amputation he took a closer look and found that Easton’s ankle and hind foot were fused together which re-affirmed our decision to amputate. He explained that Easton has a cast and also a pin in the bottom of his leg to help hold the heel pad in place. We then went out and told the family what we had heard and after a few minutes went to see Easton in the recovery room. He was pretty scared and stopped crying the minute we held him. As Tiff and I were trying to change his diaper, he was trying to crawl around and pull himself up on the crib. We took him back to the room and brought Sadie back so she could see her little brother. She was excited to see that Easton had a cast like her. I think she is still trying to process it all. She has been a great big sister The day went really well and he was happy and pain free. About 10:00 last night, he ran a high fever and a cough and has been having a rough day due to the sickness but as far as his leg goes, he hasn’t shown any signs of pain. If things go as planned, we will check out tomorrow (Thursday).
We will come back the first week in January to have his cast taken off and the pin removed. We will also see the Prosthesis lab to see what kind of schedule they want to make for fittings.
Thank you all so much for your love, support, calls, prayers, gifts and thoughts! We are truly blessed!
LOVE, Andy Tiff, Sadie and Easton.

What a cute family you have! I got your blog site from the Ogden's. I'm glad Easton's surgery went well, I'm sure that was a hard day full of stress and worry. Please know that little Easton will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers as you travel down this new path.
