Our little Man...

Easton had his MRI yesterday at Primary Childrens. Easton did great, and the nurses were wonderful! They had to put him to sleep with medicine through an IV.... so, obviously they put an IV in. Andy held him chest to chest while one nurse distracted him with a toy and the other nurse did the IV. I was totally expecting him to cry and try to pull away.... but, he didn't do anything! He didn't cry.... he didn't pull away... h e didn't even flinch. I wasn't sure they had even done it until she gave him his hand back all wrapped in dinosaur medical tape. The nurses were all in total awe! Easton thought his dinosaur hand was really cool and he told the nurses "ank you!" That's my boy!

Then we walked right outside the MRI room were they let me hold Easton until he was asleep. About 2 hours later after a GOOD nap... we rustled him enough to make his eyelids open. ... he was pretty loopy for the rest of the night, but he wasn't at all grouchy like they said he probably would be. He was actually pretty giddy. He was just laughing at everything!

We don't get to talk to our ENT for three more weeks, so I was hoping that I could call our primary care Doc on Friday to find out the results... but, we were pleasantly suprized when a Doctor came out to share the results with us.

He said they had been studying it for a while and he had consulted with a few different doctors, including one who specializes with this area of the body and they had finally came to a conclusion. The diagnosis was that it is in fact a tumor... but as the doctor said, "it is a tumor with a lower case t" Basically, it is like a calcium filled cyst. He said it is most likely a congenital birth defect that he has had since he was a baby. The problem is.... that it is bigger than it looks. It is about the size of the top of your pinky, about marble sized. His bones are actually growing around it, because it is in the way. We haven't talked to our ENT yet, but the doctor said he felt certain that they would want to remove it.... that means surgery.

The doctor made it sound like it would be a pretty uninvasive surgery, though... just a small incision to remove the tumor. That's about all we know for now, Easton is doing great and really doesn't know anything is wrong. The doctor's said they have never seen anything like this before... that's are Easton.... just plain special!

Andy & Tiff, it's really remarkable you even spotted that tumor (with a small "t"). How lucky is Easton to have you as parents. He has proven his toughness before, he'll do it again - give him (and yourselves)an extra hug from Grandma B. Thanks for the update.

Could he possibly be any more wonderful? I know grown men that can't handle getting an IV. He must have angels watching over him. I bet you do too!!! Love you guys. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Andy and Tiff- there is seriously just a sweet calm spirit about your little familiy and Easton is amazing. Sadie is such a good big sister and Easton will do great with his surgery as examplified (SP) by his MRI.
