Art Work....

Sadie loves doing crafts and artwork! And lately her new favorite thing is writing letters and words. She still doesn't know all of her letters... but, she is learning and knows at least the name or sound of most of them.

She loves to have me write words for her and then she copies them down. Which has really helped her in learning her letters!

My goal was to get Sadie to write her name before school started this year, and when August rolled around we still didn't have it figured out! I was starting to get frustrated when I had an inspired idea. Sadie loves stories, she always remembers the stories she hears at preschool, so I decided maybe I should play to that and use a story to teach her how to write her name....

I don't want to forget it, so here is our Sadie Name Story:

There once was a Snake (S)
Who got hungry and ate a mouse (a)... we even started out drawing eyes and a smiley face on it.
Then he was full and Sat on a chair (d)
For dessert he ate a lollipop (i)
While he played in the swing (e).

Crazy.. I know... but, it worked. Within two hours she could write her name all by herself and has been doing it ever since. The way she writes the letters is pretty interesting... but, hey, one thing at a time!

So proud of you Sadie!

Way to go Sadie! And way to go Tiff. That was a very creative way to learn to spell her name. Mom knows best!
