Tucker's Arrival.....

I realize I have posted little to nothing about my pregnancy with Tucker. I guess things just stayed so busy with two kids already and life as we know it, that I never got around to the happenings of life as a pregnant mommy. So, in a nutshell it went something like this...

Months 1-7 Great. I felt good. I had a few aches and pains, syatic nerve problems here and there, but overall I felt good. Sometimes I even forgot I was pregnant. Believe me, I remembered the next day when I was to sore to walk, well almost.
Months 8 & 9 got a little rough. I was quite proud of myself for gaining less weight with this pregnancy than either of my other two, but regardless of how much weight you gain, miserable is miserable and..... any woman who's been there knows..... it is slightly miserable. I loved feeling Tucker kick so much. He was a VERY active little guy. I got a kick out of seeing my stomach roll all over the place.

My contractions started really early this time. The Braxton hicks contractions weren't too bad, but the closer I got the contractions were real, and definately more painful. The first time Dr. Bitner checked me I was a 3 and 75% effaced. I didn't progress too much, but continued having what the Dr. called "Real Contractions" very regularly.

The week before Christmas I came down with a yucky cold, but luckily it was gone for Christmas.

I'm sure Tucker was totally and completely confused since two weeks before Christmas I was praying like crazy that he WOULD come and then the day before Christmas Eve I started praying like crazy that he WOULDN'T come yet!

By the time Christmas came and went I had pretty much talked myself out of having contractions, so I was pretty suprized when we checked in to be induced and they said I was already in labor. Having Contractions every two minutes.

Well, that was a rather big nut, but there you have it.

We arrived at the hospital at 7:30 am on December 29th. The nurse had a bit of trouble getting my IV in, I still have a bruises on my hand from were she tried, twice. Finally, she gave up and had the anesthesiologist come and do it. I really wanted to have my epidural before Dr. Bitner broke my water, because it hurt so bad when he broke my water with Sadie, but since I didn't even have my IV in yet, Dr. Bitner ended up there before we had even really started anything. I didn't believe him when he said it wouldn't hurt, but he was right! He said, since I was already so ready, it was much easier and less painful as a result. Good news!

Once the anesthesiologist got my IV in, which by the way, was way more painful than the epidural or my contractions, things went really quick. My pitosin was started at about 9:30 and they were going to make me wait until half the bag was gone, before I could get my epidural, but I was progressing so quickly that they gave it to me pretty much right after my IV was in. Honestly, the contractions that I had at home for the last month were worse than any contractions I had delivering the baby!

That being said, the epidural worked great, but for some reason my stomach... not so good. I threw up through the entire delivery. Luckily, Dr. Bitner said throwing up pushes the baby out better than pushing! The baby's heart rate was dropping occassionally and we could tell the nurse was a little concerned about it, because she called Dr. Bitner in before she even had me start pushing at all. Once he arrived, they had me start pushing and we realized the baby was posterior. Luckily Dr. Bitner was able to easily turn him around and he cooperated pretty well from there! While I was delivering everyone was guessing on how big he was going to be, the majority guessed 7 lbs. But, as he made his appearance Dr. Bitner said, "He's bigger than 7 lbs!" Sadie was 6 lbs. 2 oz. Easton was 7 lbs. 3 oz. and Tucker was 8 lbs. 6 oz. Dr. Bitner said I may want to consider that before I have another!

He came into the world with dark hair.... the color is still under debate. I say it is auburn, Andy says its brown. He was very quiet. In fact, I asked the nurses if he was okay, because he didn't cry. In fact, we didn't really even hear him cry until we brought him home.

Welcome to the World baby Tucker!
