She worked very hard to earn her own money for her bunnies! She made books and sold them to Nan and Pa. She made paper airplanes and sold them to Gigi, Grandpa, and the rest of the Moosman family. She made her bed and every other bed in the house, she sweeped, she cleaned, and she acted very good.
So... we did some research on KSL and found a place called Hope Farms in Bountiful. They are an animal rescue and they were very helpful and kind.
They felt that bigger bunnies would be better for little kids, not as snappy and a little more durable. She also said we would want two, so that they would stay playful and friendly.
The first night we had the bunnies things went great. They sat in Sadie's lap while she petted them and they just hopped all around us.
Unfortunately that was the only time that happened!
Sadie was very dilligent for weeks to go outside, feed her bunnies, clean their cage and try to play with the bunnies.... but they wanted NOTHING to do with us. We even let them out to play in the backyard.... ungrateful little things;) So then we decided we needed to let the bunnies warm up to us...... so Sadie went outside and fed the bunnies a carrot or lettuce everyday. Now they will eat a treat out of her hand, but if you try to hold them they freak out and scratch until they get away. Andy and I can hold them, but they are just way to big for the kids to handle.
They've gotten out of their bunny run three times... once they expored the neighbors yard and I didn't find them until I called in a search party... including Nan and Daddy from work! Luckily they haven't gotten out for a while, but now we can't get them to go into their hutch and there water freezes solid within a half hour of being outside....... blasted bunnies;)
So, as cute as they are...... Daddy has almost got me convinced that a dog is a better fit for our family. Something that the kids can actually play with, especially since Sadie has shown us how responsible she is.
Maybe in the spring........ we will say good-bye bunnies and hello puppy.... maybe....
