Moosman Sr. Sr. Family Reunion

The Fred and Vauna reunion was in Escalante this year. Grandpa Moosman's parents were born and raised there, along with his parents. The old houses are still standing and everything, so it was the PERFECT place for the reunion.

To start the trip off we had a bit of a drive ahead of us, so we decided to take the more scenic route and we really enjoyed every minute of it! The scenery was beautiful and we passed through some REALLY cute little towns along the way. I wish we would have had more time to stop and explore... .next time.

Also, I'm generally pretty good with mountain roads.... growing up in a family that hunts and camps, but I have to admit I was a little anxious as we drove over a road by Hell's backbone. It was a cliff drop off on both sides of the road. It literally felt like we were driving in the middle of the sky.

We had to stop along the way twice to feed Tucker... on our second stop we found this little clearing in the quakies. The kids.... (that's including Andy) had a lot of fun throwing dead logs at rocks and trees and hearing the crack echo through the forest. They climbed on rocks and Easton collected every stick that he could handle.

We stayed at the Circle D Motel. It was a nice little motel... pretty old, but clean.... as you can see there was new mattresses.

On Friday morning Andy and Steven got up early to try out the hike that they were going to lead the rest of the family on Saturday morning. It took them a try or two to find the right slot canyon but, they did find it and got some great pictures. I'm only posting a few...

They hiked Spooky and Peekaboo Gulch and had a ton of fun. They encountered a few rattle snakes, bugs and extremely tight spaces. Andy had me and Sadie convinced to try it out with them on Saturday morning, but unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans.... so no one got to go.

I'm glad we got there early so Andy was able to go... I think it was a highlight for him and his dad.
